1 Brompton Road

Bantry Bay

Development Details

Set in the affluent suburb of Bantry Bay, 1 Brompton Road offers the best of Cape Town. A single residential home was converted into a five story 4-unit luxury apartment block with underground parking. Each unit is north facing with its own plunge pool. The units comprise of 3-bedrooms and 4-bathrooms ensuring ample space to relax and enjoy the 360 degree views of the famous Cape Town Atlantic Seaboard.

Although each unit was bought off plan which allowed the buyer to choose their own unique interior décor, the layout and finishes of each unit are all the same. The design was inspired by the stunning views of the sea and making optimum use of the sun. Lots of windows and an open plan design ensure that there is always natural light flooding into the apartment and gives you a sense of being outdoors even when you are inside.

The team that executed this project were Nick Godwin (contractor, Phase Three Development Company), Grobler Architects (architectural design) and Hulme & Associates (structural team). Each apartment was furnished with high-end finishes and details from only the best suppliers which included Assirelli Kitchens, Duravit (sanware), Oggie flooring, Marble Gallery tops and Smeg appliances.

As its name signifies, Bantry Bay lies perched on the rocks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in one of the most exclusive bays on the Atlantic Seaboard. Crashing waves, magnificent sunsets and protection from the wind make Bantry Bay much sought after and, because of its position, an ideal base from which to explore Cape Town. Bantry Bay lies just outside the vibey suburb of Sea Point and, although it doesn’t have a beach of its own, you can reach the beaches of Clifton on foot or Saunders Rocks on the border of Bantry Bay and Sea Point has a little tidal pool.

The suburb hugs the slopes of Lion’s Head and the very contemporary apartments that line the Bantry Bay sea front are as close to the ocean as you can get. It is within easy reach of Table Mountain and the cableway, the V&A Waterfront and the city bowl are only 5 minutes away and the suburb has its own deli.  For other restaurants and shops head off to Sea Point – the promenade here is great for evening strolls or early morning ambles – or Camps Bay. Embrace the unique lifestyle 22 on Mountain has to offer.

Due to the fact that the apartment block has underground parking, massive cantilever beams had to be fitted to support the first-floor slab. This was a daunting task for the team, however, they managed to overcome this obstacle successfully.
